The present volume, which is the result of a whole team of researcher's work, consists of a series of studies centered on repression as a fundamental dimension within the setting up and the evolution of the communist regime in Romania. The Communist Party started a war against its own people, benefiting by the help of the Soviets, at the beginning, and then by the help of its own institutions and organisms, such as the political police. The stake was to subject the Romanian people by means of force and consequently to control the entire society.
Thus, considering the thematic approach of the phenomenon, the present work is offering a wide prospect while scanning the most representative nuclei in the manifestation of communism and repression in Romania. (Ruxandra Cesereanu).
