The Anti-Communist Resistance: Scientific Research and Museum Valuation

The present volume comprises the first series of the papers presented within the International Symposium The Anti-Communist Resistance: Scientific Research and Museum Valuation, which took place in Făgăraş - Sâmbăta de Jos, in the interval 24-26 March 2006.
The main theme of the book is the anti-communist resistance in Romania and in other countries, such as Hungary or Albania. All papers within the volume take on different approaches of the main theme, from those of the direct participants, which bear strong testimonial traits, to those based on oral testimonies or archive documents. Among the most important Romanian resistance groups, which are furthermore tackled in the book, one may mention Popşa, Ion Paragină, Leon Şuşman or Garda Albă (The White Guard). The volume comprises, as well, studies on collectivization, the role of priests within the resistance movement and overviews of the researches undertaken on this subject.

The authors are well-known Romanian and foreign historiographers, researchers, museum curators and professors, among whom David Kideckel, Octavian Roske, Dorin Dobrincu, Florian Banu, Florin Abraham or Adrian Nicolae Petcu.
