What does Communism mean to me?
. The project addressed the pupils within middle and secondary schools. The ceremony was hosted by Raluca Grosescu, project coordinator. The awards were handed out by Radu Ioanid, member of the Honorary Board of the IICCR, Lucia Hossu Longin, Secretary General of the IICCR, Doru Dumitrescu, school inspector within the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, Ştefan Câlţia, plastic artist, Oana Tănase, art critic.17 April 2007
The Third Meeting of the IICCR's Honorary Board
The Honorary Board of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania held its third meeting on 17 April 2007, at the IICCR’s premises. Marius Oprea, the president of the Institute, began by thanking the members of the Honorary Board for attending the meeting. Mr. Oprea and the members of the Managing Committee presented the IICCR’s activity report for the interval January - March 2007.

Contest Release: What does Communism mean to me?
On 28 February 2007, the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania organised a press conference so as to announce the release of the essay and graphic arts contest entitled
What does Communism mean to me?
. The press conference took place at the premises of the Group for Social Dialogue (GDS) in Bucharest. Mrs. Lucia Hossu Longin, Secretary General of the IICCR, Ms. Raluca Grosescu, Head of Documentation Office within the IICCR, and Mr. Doru Dumitrescu, school inspector within the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, attended the press conference. Discussions focused on the impact the contest would have on the young people’s understanding of the representative ideological elements of the communist regime.11 February 2007
Visit to Radio Free Europe
On 11 February 2007, on the occasion of their visit to Prague – The Czech Republic, the representatives of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania met Mr. Nenad Pejic, Associate Director of Radio Free Europe and Mrs. Oana Serafim, Director of the Romanian Division of Radio Free Europe. Discussions focused on the programmes broadcasted by the Romanian Division, as well as on the overall impact of the programmes broadcasted by Radio Free Europe during the 50-year communist domination in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The IICCR’s representatives, namely Mr. Stej ărel Olaru, Director General, and Mr. Andrei Muraru, Head of Archives Research Office, presented detailed information on the IICCR’s structure, objectives and legal framework. The IICCR’s accomplishments in 2006 and its projects for 2007 were outlined as well. The opportunity of future collaboration between the IICCR and Radio Free Europe was also taken into consideration.

Meeting the Royal Family of Romania
On 10 January 2007, Mr. Marius Oprea, the president of the IICCR and member of the Presidential Commission for the Anal ysis of the Communist Dictatorship in Romania, and Mr. Stej ărel Olaru, the Director General of the IICCR, had lunch with the Royal Family of Romania. Their Majesties King Mihai I and Queen Ana together with Their Royal Highnesses Princess Margareta and Prince Radu considered a series of issues with the IICCR’s representatives. Discussions referred to political life in Romania, as well as to various moments in Romanian recent history involving King Mihai I. Both Mr. Oprea and Mr. Olaru offered autographed books to the Royal Family. The meeting took place at Elisabeta Palace, the residence of the Royal Family.

The Second Meeting of the IICCR's Honorary Board
The Honorary Board of the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes in Romania held its second meeting on 4 December 2006, at the IICCR’s premises, so as to evaluate the Activity Report for 2006. On 5 December 2006, the members of the Board met again, in the presence of the Romanian Prime Minister, Mr. Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, at New Europe College, in Bucharest.
